What is Camp Rotary?

Camp Rotary is an urban campground created by the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise and the Rotary Club of Simi Valley, for local youth organizations to use for programs, education, recreation,
and interaction.

The Rancho Simi Recreation & Park District has designated an area in Corriganville Park as the home for Camp Rotary. It currently consists of a covered education/picnic area with bbq’s and bathrooms nearby, a tent camping site and a campfire with amphitheater seating.

About Corriganville Park

Located at the eastern end of Simi Valley on 206 acres, Corriganville Park is the former site of the Corriganville Movie Ranch. Thousands of movies, TV shows and commercials were filmed here between 1937 and 1965. The sets that made up the western town burned down in the 70’s but their foundations can still be seen. Also still remaining is the concrete lake where diving and underwater scenes were filmed.

Along with the movie industry, Chumash indian sites, the railroad, indigenous plants and animals are represented within Corriganville. There are also 5 walking/hiking trails, including an Interpretive Trail with info markers, and the Stagecoach trail, following the original roads used to enter Simi Valley.

Who can use it?

Camp Rotary is available for use year round by community groups, churches, schools, non-profit and youth organizations. The Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts are regular users of Camp Rotary. Local schools have used Camp Rotary for field trips where volunteer docents educate and entertain about California history, flora and fauna. The park is open for public use from 6:00 am to Sunset. Nighttime programs, overnight camping and campfires require a permit. Reservations can be made through the Park District: 805-584-4400

How to get there?

Corriganville Park is located at the eastern end of Simi Valley. Exit the 118 at Kuehner. Take Kuehner south. Left onto Smith Road. The parking lot for Corriganville is located at the end of Smith Road. Follow the trail signs from the far end of the parking lot to reach Camp Rotary.

How can we help?

We are continually looking to improve and expand Camp Rotary’s usefulness to the community. Future improvements being considered include a low ropes/teambuilding course. If you have ideas or questions about these possible projects, or any other suggestions, please contact us.

In the past we have provided bus transportation and arranged docents for elementary school field trips. If you have a program or program idea that we can help out with, please let us know.
