TARGET SHOPPING DAY -- DECEMBER 2010
15 Children Shop with their Families
The Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise recently had the pleasure of giving gifts of clothing to 15 boys and girls, age 6 to 12,who were chosen for citizenship or academic achievement awards at their elementary schools. The morning was spent shopping at a local Simi Valley Target store with their sisters and brothers and mom and dad! Rotarians from the club joined in with the families as they chose and purchased their items. The money for this event, and for the many other community programs that the club supports, is raised during the club's annual Cajun Creole with a Blues Infusion Music festival held each Memorial Day weekend.

FREE CLINIC WORK PROJECT - MAY 2010
Each year, all Rotary clubs are asked to organize a “Rotary Work Day” that serves the local communities we live in. This year the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise selected The Dental Free Clinic of Simi Valley. This effort included an intense day of repair, construction, and painting to make the clinic brighter, repair or replace old problematic fixtures, and simply make it a better place to work and learn. Joining our club was The Home Depot and the Home Depot Team. Our club and the free clinic are so grateful for Home Depot’s contribution of the upgraded cabinets, fixtures, paint and supplies as well as an energetic team of folks to help. Several local skilled tradesmen joined us and made sure the quality of work would stand up to the needs of the Free Clinic. This work project was no small feat to achieve in a single day and it is the kind of work Rotarians step up to. The result was we achieved our workday objective and the Free Clinic is much more cheerful and clean and really will allow them to better serve our community. This is what Rotary and partnerships with the folks at Home Depot is all about and something we can all be proud of. Our club and it’s leadership sincerely thanks everyone who helped make this amazing project a reality.

SIMI VALLEY STREET FAIR - MAY 2010
The annual Simi Valley Street Fair sponsored by the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce was a roaring success for our club. We had many volunteers who built, managed, and tore down a large double booth featuring our Cajun Festival (with a Blues Infusion). We sold over 100 tickets and lots of beads and little alligators. And we promoted our festival to the community.
